naoshima / teshima

(07/12/16 - 09/12/16)

most of the art museums and installations had photography prohibited but here is a glimpse of the beautiful and extremely peaceful islands of naoshima and teshima. naoshima was so small that you could walk from one side to the other (short side) in just under an hour, and teshima was even smaller than that, but there was so much to see. probably the most expensive part of my solo trip, but it was definitely worth almost not being able to get back to the mainland because i almost ran out of cash (had to cut out one art museum from my itinerary).

super recommend!

crack pop fizz

...the sound of opening a bottle of pear fanta from the local lawson.

film snaps (some of these scans are super shitty) in chronological order from my time in tokyo and kyoto with nina, gen, mandy and katherine. this was my first trip overseas with friends and it was a frickn blast!! sometimes i would have to pinch myself about the fact that i was walking the streets of shibuya at 9:30pm on a weeknight in search of sweet potato, or biking through nara at sunset, or idly watching nina almost burn down the airbnb. these two weeks will definitely be unforgettable - thanks, u sokenbichas. love and miss my onigiris. (lowkey miss getting notifs from splitwise lol)

lots and lots happened, and i had so so so much fun, but i guess what happens in japan stays in japan (unless u watch these vlogs hehe)

im in naoshima right now, and it's december. but i began my post-hsc japan trip with a week in okinawa from the 9th to the 16th of november. i spent my time hanging out with family - especially my baby cousin - and forcing my uncle to take me to castle ruins (among other places). even nearing the end of autumn it was 30ºC every frickn day (i was actually, literally dripping sweat from my chin when we went to nakagusuku castle) and it still felt like summer - typical.

i've been updating my youtube channel with videos of my trip, but i will also start to upload some photos and blogposts :~) even if u don't enjoy these, i love them - these photos and moments are some that i don't get to have very often. time in okinawa is special to me, and i feel it gets more precious as i grow older since time between visits get longer and longer. this island feels like home even though i've never lived here - and i've come to understand the quote, "home is not a place, it's a feeling."
